Travel suggestions:

  • Ensure that you land/arrive into Guwahti latest by 11 am as we will depart from the airport by 11.30 am on Day 1
  • Take a flight/train post 5pm on Day 8

Tour Plan

Day 1 - Drive from Guwahati Airport to Bhalukpong(Around 6hrs drive)

  • Play games, sing songs, enjoy the views
  • Overnight stay at Bhalukpong.
  • Spend the evening getting to know each other.

Day 2 - Bhalukpong – Sangti Valley(Around 4hrs drive)

  • Post Breakfast Depart for Sangti Valley.
  • Visit the Nichiphula Waterfall
  • Embark on a scenic road trip to explore the natural wonders along the way to Sangti Valley
  • Make a stop at the Nag Mandir, a temple built by the Indian Army with an intriguing story behind it.
  • By evening, immerse yourself in the serene beauty of dense forests and gracefully flowing rivers that outline the terrain.
  • Overnight stay at Sangti Valley.

Day 3 - Dirang Sighseeing & Mandala Top

  • Wake Up to the Sound of Sangti River
  • Spend some serene moments by the riverside. If you're feeling adventurous, consider taking a dip in the river.
  • Have your breakfast while letting the picturesque views of paddy lands and the Kameng River fill your mind and soul.
  • Explore the Thupsung Dhargye Monastery and Kalachakra Gompa to learn more about the beautiful Buddhist culture of the area.
  • Head to the Dirang market to purchase local artifacts and souvenirs for your loved ones.
  • If time allows, explore Mandala Top for more breathtaking views and experiences.
  • Return to Sangti Valley to enjoy a bonfire under a blanket of stars, enhancing the serene and magical atmosphere.

Day 4 - Dirang- Sela Pass - Tawang (Around 5hrs drive)

  • After breakfast check out from the stay.
  • We drive through one of the highest motor-able passes in the world – Sela Pass, at 13700 feet above sea level
  • Spend time at nearby beautiful Sela “Paradise” lake
  • Visit Jaswant Garh – a war memorial built in the name of an Indian soldier – Jaswant Singh Rawat, who single – handedly fought the Chinese soldiers near the Sela Pass during the Sino-Indian War 1962
  • Check-in for overnight stay

Day 5 - Tawang local exploration

  • After breakfast, depart to explore the town of Tawang.
  • Visit Urgelling Monastery is considered the birthplace of the Dalai Lama VI. This 400-year old Gompa holds great significance among the Buddhist people.
  • Visit to Tawang Monastery, Largest monastery in India & was built in 1681
  • Visit Giant Buddha Statue & then Tawang War Memorial – l which is dedicated to the Indian soldiers who died in the 1962 war
  • Evening is free for leisure.

Day 6 - Visit Bum La Pass near China border, Sangetsar & Penga Teng Tso Lake (around 4 hrs drive)

  • Post breakfast, depart for an excursion for Bum la Pass. At 15200 feet above sea level, it is almost permanently under snow cover and can be visited depending on the day’s weather.
  • On the way visit to Sangestar Lake which is also known as Madhuri Lake.
  • Reach Bumla Pass, Border on India and China- It is a historic and extremely significant military post.
  • We also explore to Penga Teng Tso lake.

Day 7 - Tawang to Bombila(around 5hrs drive)

  • On the way stop by to catch a view of the mystic Jung Falls a.k.a. Nuranang falls.
  • Visit the Bomdilla Monastery
  • Overnight stay in Bomdilla.

Day 8 - Bomdila to Guwahati (around 8hrs drive)

  • Wake up early as we embark on our return journey. we will have breakfast enroute.
  • We will also visit the Bhutan Border.
  • Enjoy the scenic views & Drive back towards Guwahati.
  • Drop at Airport

What is the age limit for Tawang Backpacking?
The age limit for this trip is 18-45.

How will you contact me once I register?
We will be mailing you the details once you register and creating a whatsapp groups 2 weekens before the trip

Can I come alone?
Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.

Is it safe for a female solo traveller?
It is completely safe for a female solo traveller as our representatives will be there with you all the time. Moreover, most of our events have 60% female participation.

What if I have a medical emergency?
We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible.

What is the stay like for Tawang Backpacking?
Stays will be mix of hotels and homestays. We will be staying in Hotels & Homestays for the Duration of the trip on twin sharing basis. In an unlikely case of odd number of male/female participants 1 or max 2 rooms will be triple sharing(only where the room is big enough)

Would I get cellular connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh?

You will get intermittent cellular connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh

What type of food will I get in Arunachal?

We will be having our Breakfast & Dinner at our stays. Lunches we will have locally during our road trip and sightseeing trips and at our stays.

What is the group size?
The group size will be between 6 – 16 Trippers

Disclaimer

  • Any additional expenses arising out of unforeseen circumstances like cancellation/ roadblocks/landslides/strike or any other natural causes out of human control or any emergency evacuation expenses will be borne by the travellers
  • In case of cancellation of any event due to reasons beyond control (like Natural calamities, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc.), refund shall be payable with respect to the given refund norms.

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellation done by participant prior to 45 days of the Event, 10% of the advance amount will be deducted
  • If cancellation done by participant prior to 30 days of the Event, 50% of the advance amount will be deducted
  • If cancellation done by participant between 15 to 30 days of the Event, 100% of advance amount will be deducted
  • If cancellation done by participant between 7 to 15 days of the Event, 50% of whole trip amount will be deducted
  • If cancellation done by participant within 7 days of the Event, 100% of whole trip amount will be deducted
