Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival at Dibrugarh – Drive to Aalo

You land in Dibrugarh where the Brahmaputra flows endlessly across the plains. Soon, the road begins to climb into Arunachal Pradesh. Forests grow denser, rivers turn wilder, and the mountains slowly rise around you.

By evening, you reach Aalo, home to the Adi tribe, who believe rivers and forests carry living spirits.

Overnight in Aalo.

Day 2: Aalo – Mechuka

The road to Mechuka is dramatic, cliffs, forests, and rivers guiding your way.

En route, you stop at Siko Dido Waterfalls, where icy water crashes down in silver sheets. Locals say such mountain springs carry healing energy, born from snow-fed glaciers.

As you approach Mechuka, the valley opens up beneath snow-capped peaks. The name is believed to mean “Medicinal Water of Snow.” Close to the Indo-China border, the valley feels untouched and sacred.

Overnight in Mechuka.

Day 3: Mechuka Local Sightseeing + Dorjeeling Village

Morning in Mechuka feels surreal.

Visit the 400-year-old Samten Yongcha Monastery, built by the Memba tribe who migrated from Tibet centuries ago. Ancient scriptures and prayer wheels whisper stories of Himalayan Buddhism.

At Gurudwara Mechuka Sahib, locals believe Guru Nanak meditated here during his Udasi travels. A rock said to carry his footprint is still preserved, a rare spiritual confluence in this remote valley.

Explore Dorjeeling Village, where traditional wooden houses stand against vast mountain backdrops. Walk across hanging bridges and feel the silence that only border valleys know.

Overnight in Mechuka.

Day 4: Mechuka – Aalo

You retrace the winding mountain roads, with the mighty Siang River flowing below, considered sacred by local tribes and believed to carry ancestral spirits.

Evening arrival in Aalo.

Overnight in Aalo.

Day 5: Aalo to Roing

The journey now shifts toward Dibang Valley. The Dibang River roars through deep gorges, wild and untamed.

This land belongs to the Idu Mishmi tribe, whose folklore speaks of mountain ancestors and sacred natural forces.

Overnight in Roing.

Day 6: Roing to Anini – Dibang Valley

The drive to Anini is one of India’s most dramatic road journeys.

Steep cliffs rise on one side, deep valleys fall on the other. Waterfalls spill across broken mountain roads. Network fades. Civilization thins.

Anini is one of the least populated districts in India, remote, raw, and profoundly beautiful. Here, traditions remain untouched and the mountains dominate every horizon.

Overnight in Anini.

Day 7 - Anini Local Exploration – Achesho & Dri Valley

Today you explore Achesho and the expansive Dri Valley.

Wide Himalayan meadows stretch endlessly under open skies. The Dri River glides quietly through the valley, reflecting snow peaks above.

Locals say the mountains here are guarded by ancestral spirits, and during winter, when frost covers the valley, it feels almost otherworldly.

This is true digital detox, no distractions, only wind, water, and vast mountain silence.

Overnight in Anini.

Day 8: Anini to Roing

You descend once more through the dramatic Dibang Valley, retracing the rugged mountain roads.

The journey feels quieter now, as if the mountains have shared their stories and are letting you leave.

Overnight in Roing.

Day 9: Roing – Dibrugarh (Departure)

After breakfast, drive back to Dibrugarh.

Drop at the airport/railway station for your onward journey, taking with you memories of Arunachal’s hidden valleys

FAQs

Can I come alone?
Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.

Is this trip safe for solo travellers, especially women?
Yes. Many of our participants are solo travellers. The trip is led by experienced coordinators, and group safety is our top priority.

What if I have a medical emergency?
We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible.

What makes this trip different from Tawang or other Arunachal trips?
This route covers extremely remote regions like Mechuka and Dibang Valley, which receive far fewer tourists. It focuses on raw landscapes, tribal culture, and true Himalayan road exploration rather than commercial sightseeing.

Is this trip suitable for beginners?
This trip is ideal for travellers who are comfortable with long mountain drives and basic stays in remote regions. While no trekking is involved, road journeys can be long and terrain conditions can be challenging.

How will you contact me once I register?
We will be mailing you the details once you register. We will also create a WhatsApp group a 2 weeks before the trip

What is the best time to visit?
April to early May is ideal before the monsoon intensifies. Weather conditions can impact road access, and departures may be subject to weather conditions.

What will the weather be like in April / early May?

April and early May are excellent months to visit Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Mechuka & Anini: Pleasant days (10–20°C), chilly mornings & nights.
  • Roing & Aalo: Slightly warmer (18–28°C).

Snow may still be visible on higher peaks, and valleys are lush and vibrant.

What kind of accommodation can I expect?
Stays in Mechuka and Anini are in the best available hotels, homestays, and mountain lodges in the region. These are clean and comfortable but basic in nature, as the region is extremely remote and not commercially developed.

How difficult are the road conditions?
Road conditions in Dibang Valley and parts of Mechuka can be rough. Certain stretches may have broken patches, landslides, or ongoing road work. We use suitable vehicles (Innova / Scorpio / similar) to handle the terrain.

Is there mobile network connectivity?
Network connectivity will be intermittent. In places like Anini and parts of Dibang Valley, you may experience little to no signal. This trip offers a true digital detox experience.

Do I need any permits?
Yes. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory for Arunachal Pradesh. All required permits are included in your package.

What type of food will I get?
Breakfast will be provided at stays (except Day 1). Lunch and dinner will be at local eateries or stays, offering simple vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

How much luggage should I carry?
We recommend carrying one medium-sized bag or backpack per person. Due to mountain terrain and limited vehicle storage, luggage space is restricted.

Is it safe to travel in this region?
Yes. Arunachal Pradesh is one of the safest states in India with warm and welcoming locals.
We travel in groups with local drivers who know the terrain well.

What happens in case of heavy rain or road blockages?
The itinerary may be adjusted depending on road conditions, weather, or government advisories. Safety will always be prioritized.

What is the group size?
6-15 PAX per group

What is the age group for this trip?
This expedition is designed for travellers aged 18–45 years who are comfortable with long mountain drives, remote terrain conditions, and basic stays in offbeat Himalayan regions.

Due to the challenging road conditions and limited connectivity in Dibang Valley and Mechuka, we recommend this trip for physically fit and adaptable travellers.
