Far beyond the usual Himalayan trails lies Mechuka — a remote valley in Arunachal Pradesh where dramatic mountains, pristine rivers, ancient monasteries and tiny mountain villages come together.
This 6-day journey takes you deep into the Eastern Himalayas, beginning in Dibrugarh and winding through Pasighat and Aalo before reaching the secluded Mechuka Valley. Along the way, cross spectacular bridges, discover hidden waterfalls, explore charming villages and drive towards Lamang, one of the last inhabited settlements near the Indo-Tibet border.
This isn't just a trip to a destination. It's a journey into one of India's most untouched mountain landscapes.

Tour Plan
Day 1 — Into the Eastern Himalayas
Land in Dibrugarh early morning and begin the journey into Arunachal Pradesh. Drive towards Aalo via Pasighat, with the spectacular Panging Hanging Bridge waiting along the way.
As the plains give way to mountains, forests and winding roads, the adventure truly begins.
Overnight: Aalo
Day 2 — The Road to Mechuka
After breakfast, hit the road towards the legendary Mechuka Valley.
The drive takes you deeper into the mountains, with dramatic landscapes unfolding at every turn. Stop at Siko Dido Waterfalls after lunch for a refreshing snack break before continuing towards Mechuka.
Reach Mechuka by evening and settle into the quiet mountain valley.

Day 3 — Discovering the Mechuka Valley
Villages • Monastery • Viewpoints • Heritage
Today is all about exploring Mechuka and its surroundings.
Visit the picturesque Dorjeeling Village, soak in panoramic views from the Mechuka View Point, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of Samten Yongcha Monastery.
Continue to the intriguing Hanuman Face View Point before visiting the historic Gurudwara Mechuka Sahib.
Return to Mechuka in the evening and enjoy another night amidst the mountains.

Day 4 — To the Edge of the Himalayas
Today takes you closer to the frontier.
After breakfast, drive towards Lamang Village, a remote settlement close to the Indo-Tibet border. Depending on the season and road conditions, the landscape transforms into a spectacular winter wonderland, with snow-covered mountains and villages creating an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
After exploring the area, drive back to Mechuka.
Overnight: Mechuka
Day 5 — One Last Himalayan Drive
After breakfast, bid farewell to the beautiful Mechuka Valley and begin the drive back towards Aalo.
Retrace the winding mountain roads, taking in the landscapes that made the journey to Mechuka so special. Reach Aalo by evening and relax after an incredible few days in the mountains.

Day 6 — From the Mountains to the Plains
Wake up early and begin the final drive towards Dibrugarh.
As the mountains gradually give way to the plains, the Mechuka expedition comes to an end. Arrive at Dibrugarh Airport for your onward journey, carrying back memories of one of Arunachal Pradesh's most remote and magical valleys.

Can I come alone?
Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.
Is this trip safe for solo travellers, especially women?
Yes. Many of our participants are solo travellers. The trip is led by experienced coordinators, and group safety is our top priority.
What if I have a medical emergency?
We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible.
What makes this trip different from Tawang or other Arunachal trips?
This route covers extremely remote region like Mechuka which receive far fewer tourists. It focuses on raw landscapes, culture, and true Himalayan road exploration rather than commercial sightseeing.
Is this trip suitable for beginners?
This trip is ideal for travellers who are comfortable with long mountain drives and basic stays in remote regions. While no trekking is involved, road journeys can be long and terrain conditions can be challenging.

What is the best time to visit?
October to early April is ideal before the monsoon intensifies. Weather conditions can impact road access, and departures may be subject to weather conditions.
What will the weather be like in April / early May?
- Mechuka: November brings crisp, cool days and cold nights, with temperatures generally around 0–15°C. Expect clear skies, dry weather and beautiful Himalayan views. Snow is possible at higher elevations.
- Aalo: November in Aalo is generally pleasant and cool, with daytime temperatures around 15–25°C and cooler evenings.
Snow may still be visible on higher peaks, and valleys are lush and vibrant.
What kind of accommodation can I expect?
Stay in Mechuka are in the best available hotels, homestays, and mountain lodges in the region. These are clean and comfortable but basic in nature, as the region is extremely remote and not commercially developed.
How difficult are the road conditions?
Road conditions in parts of Mechuka can be rough. Certain stretches may have broken patches, landslides, or ongoing road work. We use suitable vehicles (Innova / Scorpio / similar) to handle the terrain.
Is there mobile network connectivity?
Network connectivity will be intermittent. This trip offers a true digital detox experience.
Do I need any permits?
Yes. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory for Arunachal Pradesh. All required permits are included in your package.
What type of food will I get?
Breakfast will be provided at stays (except Day 1). Lunch and dinner will be at local eateries or stays, offering simple vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
How much luggage should I carry?
We recommend carrying one medium-sized bag or backpack per person. Due to mountain terrain and limited vehicle storage, luggage space is restricted.
Is it safe to travel in this region?
Yes. Arunachal Pradesh is one of the safest states in India with warm and welcoming locals.
We travel in groups with local drivers who know the terrain well.
What happens in case of heavy rain or road blockages?
The itinerary may be adjusted depending on road conditions, weather, or government advisories. Safety will always be prioritized.

This expedition is designed for travellers aged 18–45 years who are comfortable with long mountain drives, remote terrain conditions, and basic stays in offbeat Himalayan regions.
Due to the challenging road conditions and limited connectivity in Mechuka, we recommend this trip for physically fit and adaptable travellers.
